Collector of vintage clothing, Marina Ivanova, plans to create a museum of fashion in Kyiv. And while this idea awaits realization, Marina has presented a part of her collection at the exhibition "Eternity of Romance." Our correspondent tell us more about the unique clothing and accessories of the Nineteenth Century. One can learn about the fashion of the Nineteenth century not only from historical movies and old photos, but also by seeing such clothing firsthand. Kiev designer Marina Ivanova presented her private collection of elegant dresses and ladies accessories that were popular in Europe almost 200 years ago. [Marina Ivanova, Vintage Clothes Collector]: "I'm a slave of this collection. I have to patch, darn, iron, restore." The exhibition displays some of what was gathered by Marina over 30 years. Each dress has its own history and its purpose. [Anna Varavva, NTD Correspondent]: "These dresses of delicate batiste and lace were designed for walking. They were dressed on corsets, which tightened the waist to 50 cm. But what could not be done for the sake of a beauty?" To create a more expressive silhouette women tied a pillow behind, called a bustle.
